Chaggim
We believe that a healthy Jewish culture is one that is both dynamic and evolving, and at the core of Jewish expression are the Chaggim (Jewish festivals). At Kolenu, we celebrate the core themes and traditions unique to each chag, yet bring them to life through creative, inclusive structures which complement the secular world in which we live.
Since 2017 we have facilitated celebrations, workshops and services for Rosh Chodesh, Tu Bishvat, Purim, Pesach, Yom Ha'Shoah and Shavuot, in addition to our largest events of the year - Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
You can view any upcoming events we are facilitating for the Chaggim on our events page, or by signing up to our weekly newsletter via the mailing list.
Pesach podcast.
During the 2020 autumn lockdown in Melbourne, our Chaggim team produced a podcast series exploring the hidden sides of Pesach and its traditions.
The series explores the unsung heroines of the Pesach story, stories of modern exodus, Pesach traditions in the Kolenu community, songs of the Seder, the intersection of queer and Jewish identities, and fighting the plague of climate change.

“This community is a constant reminder of what is possible when a group of committed, passionate, creative and radically cooperative people put their hearts and minds together and every single year. As the Kolenu journey continues, I'm reminded at this time at just how truly remarkable it is and you all are.”
